Shopify Case Studies

What we found on each store, what we changed, and the number we checked afterwards. Tracking, Merchant Center, catalogue SEO and theme work, on stores that were already trading when we arrived.

Clients are named where they have agreed to it. The rest are described by what they sell, and every figure is one we measured.

Hey Jimmy — camera and imaging retailer

2,686 active products, 178 brands, moved from WooCommerce

2,377
Products with no SEO title
2,354
Products with no SEO description
2,686
Products with no product type
675
Dead URLs still earning clicks
  • Product type written to 2,663 products across 57 types, verified by re-dumping and diffing the catalogue. 23 genuine oddballs left empty rather than guessed.
  • SEO title and description written to 2,415 products at a real 60-character budget, including 38 promotional titles rewritten before Merchant Center flagged them.
  • Theme title suffix dropped on product pages only, returning 13 characters to every product title while collections and blog keep the brand.

Still open: Brand collections and the 675-URL redirect map are scoped and costed, not yet applied.

Fabricated review claims on product pages
  • Full catalogue rebuilt: SEO title, description and product type on all 733 active products across 20 types.
  • 15 brand collections built as automated collections on the vendor field, with a Brands menu and redirects from the old brand URLs — then published, because API-created collections stay unpublished and 404 until you do.
  • A fabricated “rated 4.5/5 from 650+ reviews” strip with stock-photo avatars removed from every product page. A real review app was already installed and rendering underneath it.
  • Theme fault fixed that was truncating every hand-written meta description at 152 characters.

Still open: A price audit we raised and have not been asked to action: 190 variants unpriced for over twelve months, one listed in the wrong currency, eight with an inverted compare-at price.

Shopify with a one-click checkout app, heavy daily Google Ads spend

94%
Orders placed through the checkout app in one week
0

674,022
Fake conversions booked by one conversion action
7
Google tag containers loading on every page view
  • Paid orders read from Shopify every 15 minutes, the Google click id recovered from the cart attribute the checkout app writes, and the purchase sent server side through a Stape container on the store's own subdomain.
  • Conversion linker cookie set on every server event, and proven at request level on a traced order before anything was called fixed.
  • Only orders carrying a verified Google click are sent, after email-only matching pushed conversions to 1.22x the real Google orders.
  • Two bad conversion actions removed, one of them worth ₹6.42 crore in fake sales. Auto-applied recommendations cut from 21 to 1, duplicate server Meta tags paused.
  • A broken purchase tag taken out of the theme head. It was one syntax fix away from counting every page view as a sale.
  • First three clean days: Google recorded 105% of the value of its own clicked orders, inside a ±20% bar.

Motorcycle gear retailer

320+ active products, Google Shopping plus local inventory ads

93.1%
Real online eligibility, once split by channel
27
Hard disapprovals from promotional titles
41
Promotional titles not yet flagged
  • Eligibility split by channel: half the report rows were local-inventory copies waiting on a review, not broken products.
  • Titles, Google category and product type overridden for 434 offers through a supplemental feed, leaving the website's own meta titles alone. Online eligibility 93.1% to 99.5%, disapprovals 30 to 1, the same day.
  • Theme moved to Horizon 4.2 with zero edits to core files, so future updates install cleanly. New hero with one image download instead of two, a per-brand warranty block on product pages, site search schema.
  • Catalogue SEO pass: every active product with an SEO title and a product type, over-length and promotional metas cleared, misspelt handles renamed with 301 redirects.

Merchant Center offers with a real defect, out of 592 marked Limited
  • 34 brand collections built on the vendor field, each with its own meta title, description and 300 to 400 words of India-specific copy.
  • Product type on every product, with 20 misclassifications corrected: drawing tablets filed as camera accessories, headphones filed as microphones.
  • Product schema completed in the template (breadcrumbs, barcode, return policy, shipping details), which fixed every product page at once instead of one by one.
  • Barcodes matched by title only after three rewrites of the matcher. Any code claimed by more than one product is dropped, because a valid but wrong barcode risks a Merchant Center suspension.
  • Spec tables written into product pages, closing the gap on the technical terms the competitor ranked for.

Handwoven ethnic wear label

Horizon theme rebuild, published by the client

3.5.1
Real theme version under a label reading 4.1.3
0
Core theme files edited in the final build
73
Product descriptions rewritten
4
Product titles corrected to match their photos
  • Found the live theme was named 4.1.3 but running the 3.5.1 schema, so updating it was a migration, not a button press.
  • Heritage restyle built only from new sections, blocks and snippets: footer marquee, a made-to-order promise on sold-out pieces, a shipping and returns accordion drawn from the published policies.
  • When the client ran the 4.2 update, the parts that had leaned on core files were rebuilt as blocks, so the next update keeps them too.
  • Brand typeface loaded across the site without touching the theme's font settings.
  • Four titles corrected to match their photos, with new URLs and automatic 301 redirects.
